How To Enhance Your Career Prospects With MBA Hotel Management Qualifications

MBA hotel management qualifications can open the door for a career in hotel chain management which can last for your entire working life. The hotel, catering and hospitality industry is very long established, is constantly growing, and is not going to be disappearing any time soon. Growth is expected to keep pace with the overall economy during the next decade, as the economy recovers from the downturn. This is a stable career which is not going to be overtaken or replaced by high technology. Despite the increasing need for good hotel managers, there is a shortage of qualified people to fill the roles.

Qualifying through this system will take a lot of time, a lot of hard work, and lot of effort. It is not something to be attempted unless you are absolutely sure that hotel management is the career for you. Indeed, it is very unlikely that you would ever get the chance to try, as the entry qualifications for the MBA program are very strict. The vast majority of students will need to already have a degree qualification in a related field. If you have extensive experience in the field, you may be able to sidestep this requirement, but even if you do your qualification will be restricted.

If you do not have a related degree, and you have not yet worked within the hotel industry, you are going to find it a long and hard path to get to where you want to go. Never mind, everyone had to start somewhere. As you do not yet have a degree, you are in the position of being able to choose which course you take as you retrain. The best choice of all is hospitality management, as that is directly related to your new chosen career.

There are more opportunities than ever before to study for another career, and many of these opportunities are offered through the Internet. This means that you can keep your existing job, and continue to live where you are, while you are studying for the qualification which will open the doors for you. There is one other factor which you need to bear in mind, and that is that the hotel industry puts a very high premium on relevant experience.

The very best course of action, at the start of your MBA hotel management quest, is to study for a degree in hospitality management, and at the same time get a menial job in a hotel somewhere, just to build up a work record and get some relevant experience. Do this even if it means taking a drop in wages, if you are really serious about your new career. Once you have your degree, get straight onto a course for MBA hotel management.
